Some time ago, I ever came across a flower but had no idea what it was, and without the name, it was hard to search for the flower with Google.

Now, instead to take the flower features as keywords and search with Google Images, I find out a new way to search for the images even though I don’t know what they are, and the way I use is easy. I just take a photo of that flower with my mobile phone or camera, and then upload and search it on below website.

With more than 1.5 billion images, TinEye is a free website to search for images with images, you can upload an image from your computer, or you can enter an image URL, then it will show you some “exactly matched” images, which are visible with their file names and sources on the same result page.

Take a rose image for example, I just uploaded the image to the TinEye website, which then listed 3 matched images, each of them was nearly the same as the one I uploaded, and I could see the flower in my image was called “rose” from the file names of the result images, just as you can see from below picture:

With the TinEye website, you can easily search for images with images, so that you can find the names of the objects in your images, besides, you can also find some similar or even same images to yours.

But there are also other sites which can be used for Image Searching.

There’s no doubt that TinEye is a great free web app for you to search for images with images, since it offers the exactly matched results, besides TinEye, there are also another two similar websites:

1. BYO Image Search Lab

Like TinEye, BYO Image Search Lab is also a product of Idée Inc, but it offers similar matched results instead of exactly matched results.

You can upload an image from your computer, or you can paste the address of any web image, the image can be JPG, GIF or PNG format under 1MB. Those result images are like yours based on the colors, and they are all from Alamy which has nearly 3 million stock photos.

Clicking the result images, you will see the original images on the Alamy website, but most of the Alamy images are not free and some may be not available any more.

2. GazoPa

GazoPa is also a big website to search for images with images and will offer you similar images as results, but it has more features than BYO Image Search Lab.

Besides loading images from computer and webpage, you can also draw images or enter keywords, what is more, you can add the GazoPa plugin to computer browsers, or install the GazoPa app in your iPhone. After loading, you can also edit the images.

For the similar result images, you can filter them with different conditions, such as below:

• You can filter the images sources by video, news, sports, Twitter, funny, or Flickr;
• You can filter the result images by color, standard, layout shape, or face;
• You can filter the results by sizes, such as XL, L, M and S;
• You can filter the results with gray-scale only;
• You can omit the same images.

Clicking on every result image, which will become a new loading image, and you will see the original image link, size, created date, and similar images.
